About
Cassie Taylor learned the stage the hard way: at 16 she was out on the road as the bassist in her father Otis Taylor's trance blues band, reportedly for twenty dollars a gig. She ended up on eight of his albums, picking up vocals and keyboards along the way, before stepping out on her own. Her solo debut Blue came in 2011, and she also teamed up with Dani Wilde and Samantha Fish as Girls With Guitars. Her big statement was 2013's Out of my Mind on Yellow Dog Records, where she wrote, arranged, produced and sang everything, and played bass, piano, Hammond organ and theremin herself. It mixes Delta blues with electronica, indie rock and psychedelia, and reviewers reached for names like Janis Joplin and Gladys Knight. She has also reworked songs by Nine Inch Nails and Muddy Waters. More recently she has been putting out lyric videos, including Desire and Deadname (Find You).
