About
Also known as: Refiloe Maele Phoolo, Refilwe Maele Phoolo
Cassper Nyovest basically invented the "Fill Up" concert. In 2015 the rapper announced he would sell out the roughly 20,000 capacity Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, and he did, handing every ticket buyer a free copy of his album Refiloe, which went gold that same day. He then repeated the trick at Orlando Stadium, FNB Stadium, Moses Mabhida Stadium and Royal Bafokeng Stadium, one year after another. It all started with the singles "Gusheshe" and "Doc Shebeleza", which led into his 2014 debut Tsholofelo, a record that sat at number one on the South African iTunes albums chart for two months. He launched his own label, Family Tree Records, that same year. Since then he has worked with names like The Game, DJ Drama, Wizkid and Stonebwoy, and followed up with Thuto and the kwaito flavoured Sweet and Short. Rapper, producer, entrepreneur and amateur boxer, he rarely sits still.
