About
Cellobende is a musical project built around the Cello Octet, bringing together classical strings and a mix of musical cultures in compositions that cross genre boundaries. The repertoire was written by Kliphuis and Darvishi, whose work blends influences from different musical traditions into something that sits outside easy categorisation. The concept behind Cellobende flips the usual perspective: it looks at adult behaviour through a child's eyes, treating the baffling rules and conventions of grown up life as the subject of musical exploration. The result is a family oriented concert experience pitched at ages four and up, lively enough to hold a young audience without talking down to them.
