About
Cerys Hafana calls their music "sad Welsh harp pop", and they've printed the phrase on merch to prove it. They're a multi instrumentalist and composer from Machynlleth, best known for the Welsh triple harp, and The Guardian's Jude Rogers called them a master of it. Their trick is digging through the National Library of Wales ballads database for old songs, poems and ballads that have mostly dropped out of use, then trimming and reworking them. One live favourite is a seven page epic about Comet Donati, which they cut down a bit. That digging powered Edyf in 2022, an album built on songs found in the library. It made the Welsh Music Prize shortlist and landed on The Guardian's top ten folk albums of the year. Since then they've kept busy with the EPs The Bitter and Crwydro, the piano compositions of Difrisg, and the album Angel. They also play in AVANC, the Youth Folk Ensemble of Wales.
