The Choeur de Chambre de Namur is a chamber choir from Namur, Belgium, with a strong focus on early and baroque music. Founded in 1987, the ensemble has built a reputation as one of the leading chamber choirs working in this repertoire. Their programming tends toward large scale choral works, and they regularly collaborate with period instrument ensembles and specialist soloists. A notable example of this approach is their performance of Bach's Mass in B minor, a monumental work that Bach himself considered his greatest achievement, drawing together material composed across several years, from the Credo written in 1732 to the Agnus Dei completed in 1739. Partnering with baroque ensemble Il Gardellino and soloists including countertenor Tim Mead and soprano Joanne Lunn, the choir brings exactly the kind of specialist expertise this repertoire demands.
