Chance the Rapper built his name the hard way, putting out music independently and proving a streaming only project could compete at the very top. His 2013 mixtape Acid Rap drew over 1.5 million downloads and turned heads with its genre blending mix of jazz, gospel and hip hop, pulling in guests like Childish Gambino, Vic Mensa and Action Bronson. Then came Coloring Book in 2016, which made history as the first streaming only release to win the Grammy for Best Rap Album, with the 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne featured cut No Problem also taking home Best Rap Performance. Beyond his own projects, he has a knack for stealing the show as a featured act, most notably on Kanye West's Ultralight Beam and DJ Khaled's chart topping I'm the One. His debut studio album The Big Day landed at number two on the Billboard 200 in 2019, and he followed that up with his second album Star Line in 2025. He is also a member of the Chicago collective Savemoney and a lead vocalist for the hip hop band the Social Experiment.
