About

Charlotte de Witte built her name on a distinctly dark, stripped back sound, and the Belgian DJ and producer has become one of techno's most recognisable figures doing exactly that. Originally performing as Raving George, she adopted that alias partly to sidestep bias against female DJs, before dropping it in 2015 alongside a full stylistic pivot away from electro and into raw, gritty techno. Her debut EP under her own name, Weltschmerz, came out that same year on Turbo Recordings, and a run of EPs followed through 2017 and 2018. She launched her own label KNTXT in 2019, releasing music from artists like Chris Liebing and Alignment, and was voted best techno DJ at the DJ Awards that same year. Her 2021 remix of the classic track The Age of Love, made together with Enrico Sangiuliano, topped Beatport's techno chart and earned a gold record for over 500,000 units sold. In 2024 she started a second label, Époque, focused on remixes of iconic Belgian tracks. By 2025, DJ Mag ranked her ninth best DJ in the world, her highest position yet.
