About
Chartreuse are a four piece indie folk band from the Black Country in the West Midlands, and what sets them apart pretty quickly is the dual vocal setup: Mike Wagstaff and Harriet "Hattie" Wilson share lead duties, weaving together an intimate, emotionally candid sound that critics have described as soulful and subdued. Rory Wagstaff holds down the drums and Perry Lovering plays bass, rounding out a tight unit that has been developing their chemistry since 2013. Signed to Communion Records, they built early momentum with EPs before dropping their debut album Morning Ritual in 2023, which DIY called "rich, luscious and well crafted." They took that record on the road opening for Local Natives across North America. Their second album, Bless You & Be Well, arrived in 2025 after being recorded at a remote studio in northern Iceland with producer Sam Petts Davies. Far Out praised it for its "searing vulnerability," and a Rolling Stone UK feature highlighted the reflective, close knit feel that runs through the whole thing.
