About
Chico Pinheiro picked up the guitar at fourteen and quickly became a go to player in Brazil before landing gigs with international heavyweights like Herbie Hancock and Brad Mehldau. His relaxed acoustic style sits comfortably in the jazz tradition while staying rooted in his Brazilian background. His debut album Meia Noite Meio Dia, released in 2002, landed straight onto the year end lists of major Brazilian newspapers, and further recognition followed through appearances in the Downbeat Critics Polls. His album City of Dreams earned a Grammy nomination, and he has also recorded Two Brothers, an instrumental duo album with guitarist Romero Lubambo covering material by Tom Jobim, Stevie Wonder and Billie Eilish. In quartet format he is joined by a pianist, bassist Mathias Allamane and drummer Rogério Pitomba.
