About

Also known as: Choucanne Siranossian

Chouchane Siranossian has a knack for making a lunchtime concert feel endless. When she improvised on Havun, Havun ("The Bird Was Awake"), a piece by the 10th century Armenian mystic Krikor Naregatsi, The Guardian's Fiona Maddocks wrote that it was "infinity in the palm of Siranossian's hand, eternity in a metropolitan lunch hour." The French violinist trained with Zakhar Bron in Zurich and went on to lead the St Gallen Symphony Orchestra as concertmaster. Then came a meeting with early music specialist Reinhard Goebel, and she picked up the baroque violin, which became the heart of her work across baroque, concerto and chamber music. Her playing has earned her International Classical Music Awards in 2017, 2019 and 2021. Her sister Astrig is a cellist too, so music clearly runs deep in the family.
