About
Inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame as a Master Blues Artist in 2015, Chris Bergson has spent decades carving out a reputation as one of the more serious guitarists working the blues rock and soul side of the New York scene. His 2007 album Fall Changes, recorded at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, made a real splash, landing at number one on MOJO's Blues Albums of the Year list and earning a four star review from blues scholar Tony Russell, who praised the band's gritty, soulful engine. That session also led to Bergson being invited to play Helm's legendary Midnight Ramble concerts. Bergson has backed vocalists like Norah Jones and opened for both Etta James and B.B. King, while also serving as a Jazz Ambassador for the U.S. State Department on a tour through eight West African countries. His live album from the Jazz Standard, released in 2014, earned more MOJO recognition, cementing his place as a consistent and respected force in American blues.
