About
Chris Corsano is one of the most in demand free improvisers around, a drummer whose raw, self taught approach has made him a go to collaborator across a wild range of scenes. He has played with Björk on her Volta album and world tour, and has worked alongside figures like Evan Parker, Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore, Nels Cline, and Jandek, among many others. His long partnership with saxophonist Paul Flaherty, spanning more than twenty years and twenty records in a style they call The Hated Music, is a cornerstone of his output. Corsano also keeps busy with a handful of ongoing group projects: Rangda, a trio with Sir Richard Bishop and Ben Chasny; Chikamorachi, a duo with Darin Gray; and Vampire Belt, a duo with Bill Nace. He received a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grants to Artists award in 2017, a recognition that fits an artist who has built his reputation entirely outside the mainstream.
