Chris Patrick made his first real splash when his single "Swish" landed on the NBA 2K21 soundtrack, a co sign that put the East Orange, New Jersey rapper on a lot of people's radars. He self released his debut album From the Heart, Vol. 2 in December 2020, and by his own account started working on the follow up the very next day. That drive paid off when he signed to Def Jam Recordings in 2024, leading to his major label debut Pray 4 Me, released in December 2025. Patrick cites a wide ranging list of influences, from J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar to Whitney Houston and SZA, and that breadth shows in a style that leans on sharp lyricism while staying melodically aware. He built his live reputation opening for Travis Scott and later joining JID on the fall leg of his world tour. In 2026, XXL included him in their Freshman Class, a nod that confirmed he is very much on an upward trajectory.
