About
Also known as: Chrisette Michele Payne, Chrisette Michelle
Chrisette Michele has a knack for moving fluidly between soul, neo soul, R&B, and jazz, pulling in hip hop collaborators along the way. Before she even had a solo album out, she was showing up on records by Jay Z, Nas, Kanye West, and Ghostface Killah. Her 2009 album Epiphany debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and earned her a Grammy for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for the song "Be OK" featuring will.i.am. She kept that momentum going with collaborations alongside Rick Ross and Drake on "Aston Martin Music", and her 2013 album Better, which featured 2 Chainz and Wale, landed a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Album. After parting ways with Motown, she set up her own imprint, Rich Hipster, and put out her fifth studio album Milestone in 2016 on her own terms.
