Christ Agony have been one of Poland's more enduring black metal acts since forming in 1990, building a discography that spans demos, full lengths, and live records across more than two decades. The band is anchored by guitarist and vocalist Cezary Augustynowicz, known as Cezar, who has been the constant driving force behind their sound. Their catalogue moves through classic second wave black metal territory with a melodic edge, taking in releases like Moonlight Act III, Darkside, and Elysium before the band ran into legal trouble that forced them to record and perform under the name Union between 2005 and 2007. They came back as Christ Agony with Condemnation in 2008 and followed that up with NocturN in 2011, showing no real signs of slowing down.
