About
Christopher Gray is probably best known to a wider audience from the moment he led the Truro Cathedral choristers onto the Britain's Got Talent stage in 2019, performing Elton John's Can You Feel the Love Tonight to considerable effect. That appearance captured something real about his work: a genuine commitment to making choral music connect with people well beyond the cathedral pews. Gray served as Organist and Master of the Choristers at Truro Cathedral from 2008 to 2023, building a programme that included six choral services a week and expanding the choir by introducing a girls' ensemble alongside the existing boys' choir. He also directed the Three Spires Singers and Orchestra, and worked with community and youth choirs across Cornwall. His recordings have earned Editor's Choice recognition from Gramophone magazine. In 2023 he moved to one of the most prestigious posts in British choral music, succeeding Andrew Nethsingha as Director of Music at St John's College, Cambridge.
