Chronixx, born Jamar Rolando McNaughton, is one of the key figures in the Reggae Revival movement, a wave of roots reggae that brought the genre back into sharp focus alongside artists like Protoje, Kabaka Pyramid, and Jah9. His lyrics cover anti war themes, love, and resilience, and his sound feels rooted in tradition without being stuck in it. His 2014 EP Dread and Terrible shot to the top of the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart and spent 42 consecutive weeks in the top 10. He followed that with two appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, a Glastonbury set in 2015, and his debut album Chronology in 2017, which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album. He also co founded ZincFence Recordz, a production house that has worked with the likes of Jah Cure and Protoje.
