Pittsburgh's Circle of Dead Children have been grinding out some of the most uncompromising deathgrind since 1998, built around the one constant in the band's ever shifting lineup: vocalist Joe Horvath. Their debut full length, Starving the Vultures, packed fourteen tracks into under twenty five minutes and was recorded in a makeshift studio inside a condemned warehouse, with an engineer whose background was mostly jazz. That scrappy, intense approach set the tone for everything that followed. The band's third album, The Genocide Machine, sold out its entire pressing of 3,500 copies within a month and hit number nine on the College Music Journal hardrock charts, a first for any Necropolis Records act. Over the years Circle of Dead Children have moved through a string of labels including Earache Records and Candlelight Records, and they have turned down bigger contract offers along the way. Horvath remains the driving force, the band's only original member still standing.
