Dutch black metal outfit Cirith Gorgor have been grinding away since 1993, hailing from Panningen in the Netherlands and building a catalogue that spans nearly three decades of uncompromising darkness. Their discography runs from the debut "Onwards to the Spectral Defile" in 1999 through to "Sovereign" in 2019, with each release sitting firmly in the raw, atmospheric end of the black metal spectrum. They even got their own entry in "The Encyclopedia of Dutch Black Metal", which tells you something about their standing in the scene. The band has cycled through a fair number of members over the years, but the current lineup keeps the engine running with Levithmong on drums and vocals, Marchosias on guitar, and Waldtyr on bass. Their most recent full length, "Visions of Exalted Lucifer" from 2016 and "Sovereign" from 2019, show they have no intention of letting up. If bleak, aggressive black metal with a real sense of atmosphere is your thing, Cirith Gorgor are worth your time.
