CKay made history when 'Love Nwantiti' became the first African song to surpass one billion streams on Spotify, a track that started as a relatively modest release in 2019 before going viral on TikTok in 2021 and spreading across Europe, Africa, Australia and beyond. The Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer born Chukwuka Ekweani has a knack for blending afrobeats and afro R&B into something that travels well across borders, as proved by the wave of remixes 'Love Nwantiti' spawned in North Africa, France, Germany, Spain and East Africa. Before that global breakthrough he built a reputation in Nigeria with 'Container' in 2018, an afrobeat record with South African gwara gwara influences that earned him serious airplay. He followed it up with the EP 'Boyfriend' and the hit 'Emiliana', which reached number 9 in France and went platinum there. In late 2024 he dropped his sophomore album EMOTIONS, a 12 track project featuring Olamide among others, released through Boyfriend Music, the publishing and management company he co founded with childhood friend Joseph Salubi.
