About
Combichrist started life as the solo studio project of Norwegian vocalist Andy LaPlegua, who built the whole thing from Atlanta, Georgia, with a rotating cast of live musicians filling out the stage. The band name traces back to a fanzine character LaPlegua created in the 1990s, a punk rock messiah who went on drug and alcohol fuelled rampages and then healed the people he had beaten up. That unhinged energy translated directly into the music. Mixing aggrotech, industrial metal and electro industrial into something genuinely aggressive, Combichrist landed their first Billboard Top 10 Dance Singles chart placement with "Get Your Body Beat" and built a fanbase that kept their releases high on dance and alternative charts worldwide. Their music has shown up in horror films, the Underworld franchise, and most notably the hack and slash video game DmC Devil May Cry, for which they contributed a substantial soundtrack. They have also toured extensively alongside Rammstein and KMFDM.
