About
Cora Burggraaf is a theatre director who brought together two top singers, an alto and a tenor, with five composers, each of whom wrote a monodrama tailored to showcase the singers' individual strengths. The resulting work, Harvest, is a kaleidoscopic song play that combines live performance with film imagery and puts the question of ageing at its centre, specifically the way older singers are so often passed over for the great roles despite their expressive depth and wealth of experience. The Volkskrant gave it four stars, calling it a beautiful show for anyone who has ever thought about growing older, and the NRC awarded four stars as well, describing it as an ode to the mature singer.
