About
Cornelius Meister is a German conductor and pianist who became Generalmusikdirektor of Heidelberg back in 2005, making him the youngest general music director in Germany at the time. He went on to lead the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director from 2010 to 2018, during which he recorded works by Gottfried von Einem and Béla Bartók. Since the 2018 to 2019 season he has served as Generalmusikdirektor of the Stuttgart State Opera and the Stuttgart State Orchestra, a post he holds through 2026. He has made his mark beyond Germany too, with a US debut conducting San Francisco Opera in 2009. Alongside his orchestral work, he performs chamber music in a clarinet and piano duo with Clemens Trautmann.
