Cory Wong

About

Cory Wong is a Minneapolis based guitarist who has made rhythm guitar feel like a lead instrument, which is exactly the quality that made him an essential part of Vulfpeck and The Fearless Flyers. His solo work runs deep too: albums like The Optimist and Motivational Music for the Syncopated Soul blend funk, jazz, and R&B with a warmth that keeps pulling collaborators in. We're talking Jon Batiste, Dave Koz, Dirty Loops, and the Metropole Orkest, among others. His Grammy nominated album Meditations with Jon Batiste showed a more contemplative side, while the YouTube variety show Cory and the Wongnotes proved he could anchor a full ensemble production with comedy, interviews, and original music. Season two of that show brought in guests like Victor Wooten, Béla Fleck, and Billy Strings, and led to the 15 track album Power Station. A 2024 full concert recording in London is the latest proof that his live show is very much worth catching.
