Courtney Jaye has been quietly one of the more interesting voices in American roots and Americana, blending country, folk and a sun drenched bohemian sensibility that comes through on every record. Born in Pittsburgh and eventually settling in Nashville after stints in Flagstaff, Kauai, Austin and Los Angeles, she signed to Island Records and released her debut "Traveling Light" in 2005, landing a spot on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and charting on the Billboard Top Heatseekers with her single "Can't Behave". Since going independent, she has built an impressive web of collaborations with Gary Louris of The Jayhawks, Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses, Tift Merritt, Taj Mahal, Emily Saliers of The Indigo Girls and Butch Walker, among others. Her 2013 album "Love and Forgiveness", tracked live in Los Angeles over four days, landed on American Songwriter's Top 50 Albums of 2013. She has also turned up as a background vocalist on records by Dan Auerbach and Stephen Lynch, and appeared in Gruff Rhys's video for "Sensations in the Dark".
