Craig Cardiff has quietly built one of the most durable careers in Canadian independent music, releasing sixteen albums since 1997 without ever needing a major label to do it. Based out of Arnprior, Ontario, he records in a home studio tucked inside an old farmhouse, which gives his folk singer songwriter sound a lived in intimacy that suits the songs well. His 2011 album Floods and Fires landed in the SoundScan Top 10 and earned him a Juno Award nomination, while his double album Love Is Louder (Than All This Noise) hit No. 8 on the iTunes singer songwriter charts as the only independent Canadian release in the Top 20 at the time. Cardiff keeps things stripped back by instinct, favouring simple arrangements and limited instrumentation, though he pushed himself into full band territory for Love Is Louder. His 2018 Bob Dylan tribute saw him bring that same sparse approach to five Dylan songs, and the cover of Don't Think Twice, It's All Right racked up over half a million Spotify streams in its first month. He has been putting out new material consistently into 2025, with several recent uploads including tracks like Soda and Maybe You Should Drive.
