About
Also known as: Christian John Smith
Crankdat built his name the internet way: remixing other people's hits until the numbers got too big to ignore. His take on Fetty Wap's "Trap Queen" racked up millions of plays, and soon Skrillex and The Chainsmokers were paying attention. From there the Cleveland producer, real name Christian Smith, moved into original material, starting with "I Hold Still" alongside Jauz and "Dollars" in 2017. His sound is loud, energetic and melodic, and the collaborator list gets wild. He has teamed up with Slander and Asking Alexandria on "Kneel Before Me", Adventure Club and Krewella on "Next Life", DJ Snake on "Big Bang", and Shaquille O'Neal on "HEAT". He has also put out a lot of music on Monstercat and ran his own Gearworld tour in 2019. More recently, his self released Remix Machine Mixtape series reached its third volume, and he has kept the singles coming with "Open The Pit" featuring Juicy J and "Whiplash" featuring SOFI.
