About
Craven Faults keeps a low profile, and that mystery suits the music. The British producer builds long, hypnotic instrumental pieces from analogue synths, electronics and field recordings, somewhere between ambient, Krautrock and electronica. The name comes from the Craven Fault System in the Pennines, and Yorkshire's landscapes run through nearly everything he makes. He surfaced in 2017 with Netherfield Works on his own Lowfold Works label, then followed it with Springhead Works and Nunroyd Works, tracks stretching from seven to seventeen minutes. His debut album Erratics & Unconformities arrived in 2020 via The Leaf Label, and Standers followed in 2023. In between came the mini albums Enclosures and Bounds, the latter a 37 minute trip through Northern England. For Standers he even streamed a 75 minute YouTube broadcast of a field of sheep with an improvised piece, later released as May Birching. His first live shows sold out at Thwaite Watermill in Leeds.
