About
Also known as: Crazy Penis
Crazy P started life in Nottingham as Crazy Penis, a name picked up from a record sleeve translation that stuck around purely for the shock value. Chris Todd and Jim Baron were the core of it, and by 2002 the group had grown into a fuller band with bassist Tim Davies, percussionist Mav Kendricks, and vocalist Danielle Moore at the front. Signed to Manchester's Paper Recordings, they built a sound that sits somewhere between soul, disco and house, and developed a particularly loyal following in Australia through repeated tours. Over nearly three decades they released nine studio albums, with 2019's Age of the Ego seeing Moore turn in sharply political lyrics taking aim at celebrity culture and advocating for public investment. Their 2024 record Any Signs of Love marked their most recent work together. Moore, who was the group's frontwoman and a key lyrical voice throughout their career, died in August 2024 at the age of 52.
