About
Cultura Tres is a Venezuelan metal band out of Maracay that has been building a reputation for dense, psychedelic sludge with a distinctly South American edge since 2006. Metal Hammer UK flagged them early as a discovery to watch, and Japan's Burrn! magazine summed up their sound as "Tool meets South American rock", praising the dark, groove heavy riffs. Their 2011 self released record El Mal Del Bien scored an "excellent" from Metal Underground, cementing the band as more than a regional curiosity. Things shifted notably in 2019 when Paulo Jr., the longtime bass player of Sepultura, became a full member. His influence helped reshape the sound for their 2023 album Camino de Brujos, which translates to "Trail of Witches" and earned praise from Bass Magazine for its tone. Released through Universal Music Group in the Americas, the record blends the band's psychedelic and sludgy roots with fresh textures. Brazilian drummer Henrique Pucci has since rounded out the lineup, and the band has been working on a follow up.
