About
Also known as: D.Ramirez
Sheffield's Dean Marriott, better known as D. Ramirez, built his name in UK dance music through a string of aliases and five top 20 hits, including work under The Lisa Marie Experience, whose track "(Keep on) Jumpin'" hit number 7 on the UK Singles Chart and topped the dance chart in 1996. His remix of Bodyrox's "Yeah Yeah" pushed him into the mainstream spotlight and landed him an Ivor Novello Award nomination, no small feat for a producer whose natural instincts pull him firmly toward the underground. While he made his mark in electro house, Ramirez has steadily moved into darker, more underground techno territory over the years, something he's been pretty open about. He runs his own imprint Slave Recordings, has collaborated with the likes of Robert Owens and Dirty South, and released through Toolroom Records. More recently he's been passing on his expertise as a music production instructor at SubBass Academy of Electronic Music and as a contributor at Toolroom Academy.
