About
Daniel Hope plays a 1737 Guarneri violin and has built one of the more wide ranging careers in classical music, moving comfortably between concerto stages, chamber ensembles, and the role of artistic director. He joined the Beaux Arts Trio in 2002 and his departure effectively ended the ensemble, with the group giving its final concerts in 2008. Since then he has taken on music director roles with both the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and the New Century Chamber Orchestra, and leads the Frauenkirche Dresden as artistic director. His recordings for Deutsche Grammophon span everything from Shostakovich concertos to Max Richter's reworking of Vivaldi. More recently he released Music for a New Century featuring works by Philip Glass and Tan Dun, followed by Dance! with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and Irish Roots, which blends Irish traditional music with classical repertoire and features collaborators including James Galway and the folk group Lúnasa. During the pandemic his Hope@Home concert series, broadcast on Arte, reached millions of viewers and won an Opus Klassik jury prize.
