About
Daringer is the architect behind the grim, heavyweight sound that put Buffalo's Griselda collective on the map. As their in house producer, he crafts boom bap beats that pull from the darkest corners of 1990s East Coast hip hop, built on heavy sampling and a moody, almost cinematic tension that fits perfectly with the Mafioso rap themes of Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine, and Benny the Butcher. He has been doing this since 2005, and at this point his name is basically a synonym for the Griselda aesthetic. His productions lean hard on golden age hip hop and jazz rap influences, which makes sense given that he grew up around jazz musicians. The result is something that sounds both vintage and completely deliberate, grimy without feeling cheap. He has also worked with artists like Meyhem Lauren and Rome Streetz, spreading that same cold, streetwise Buffalo energy beyond just the Griselda roster. Even his name carries weight, taken from the Derringer pistol.
