Few classical musicians have signed a record deal at 13, but David Garrett pulled that off with Deutsche Grammophon, making him the youngest soloist ever to do so. Born in Aachen, he plays at the intersection of classical and crossover, touring with a full band that blends concert grand piano with guitar and drums, covering everything from Brahms to Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. He even played the lead role in the 2013 film The Devil's Violinist, portraying Niccolò Paganini, and released the companion album Garrett vs Paganini the same year. His 2015 album Explosive leaned into original compositions alongside rock reworkings, and 2017 brought Rock Revolution, teased by his string driven take on Bittersweet Symphony. Along the way, he has performed at the BBC Proms, the UEFA Champions League Final, and studied under Itzhak Perlman at Juilliard. He also holds a Guinness World Record as the fastest violinist on the planet.
