Davido's "Fall" made history as the longest charting Nigerian pop song on the Billboard charts, which tells you a lot about how far his Afrobeats and hip hop sound has traveled. Born in Atlanta and raised in Lagos, he first caught serious attention with "Dami Duro" from his 2012 debut Omo Baba Olowo, and hasn't really slowed down since. He founded his own label Davido Music Worldwide, renegotiated his Sony deal over creative control, and kept stacking hits like "If", "Assurance", and "Blow My Mind". His second album A Good Time dropped in 2019, followed by A Better Time in 2020, and then Timeless in 2023. His fifth studio album 5ive came out two years after that. New African magazine put him on their list of the 100 most influential Africans in 2019, and Time magazine featured him on their Next List in 2021. He's also a cultural ambassador for Nigeria and one of the most followed African artists on social media.
