About
Also known as: Projeto Peixe Morto
Dead Fish started as a bunch of skateboarding friends in Vitória who didn't own instruments or know how to play, and learned as they went, covering the Ramones, Bad Brains and Bad Religion before writing their own songs. The name came after they found out other bands were already called Stage Dive, so they landed on Dead Fresh Fish and trimmed it down. That was 1991, and they've been a cornerstone of Brazilian hardcore ever since. Their 1999 album Sonho Médio is considered historic for the scene, and they ran their own label, Terceiro Mundo Produções Fonográficas, which began as a joke so the cover had something printed on it. The major label jump came with Zero e Um in 2004, which won them MTV Video Music Brazil's Best New Artist, and a Best Hardcore Video award followed in 2009. Singer Rodrigo Lima has been there from the start. The albums have kept coming, including Ponto Cego and Labirinto da Memória, and the video for Dentes Amarelos landed in late 2023.
