About
Deborah J. Carter is an international jazz singer who works in Latin and Brazilian rhythms, pairing a warm, expressive voice with a strong sense of groove. Her sets lean on swing and Latin feel, and she is known for taking familiar songs and giving them a modern, rhythmic makeover rather than playing them straight. One of her showpiece projects is a Latin jazz take on Christmas music, where well known carols and winter songs get that treatment, from tender ballads to swinging numbers. She performs with a trio of piano, drums and a cello bass, a stripped back setup that keeps the focus on her voice and the groove. Her stage presence is a big part of the draw, built on charisma and plenty of international performance experience.
