About
Dev, the stage name of Devin Star Tailes, first turned heads when her "Booty Bounce" verse got lifted as the chorus of Far East Movement's "Like a G6", which hit number one in the US and moved over four million downloads. That kind of exposure fast tracked her signing to Universal Republic, and her debut single "Bass Down Low" went top ten in the UK. Her 2012 album The Night the Sun Came Up pushed her further, with "In the Dark" peaking at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topping the Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Her sound blends pop, hip hop influence and what she herself calls electro ballads, a mix she partly shaped recording in Costa Rica with frequent collaborators the Cataracs. She released two EPs in 2014 under the Bittersweet July title and returned with a second studio album, I Only See You When I'm Dreamin', in 2017. She has also put in time as a radio host on Apple's Beats 1 station.
