Diabulus In Musica (ES)

About

Fronted by mezzo soprano Zuberoa Aznárez, Diabulus in Musica have been one of Spain's most distinct voices in symphonic metal since forming in Pamplona in 2006. Aznárez handles an impressive range of instruments alongside her vocals, including flute, harp and baroque flute, and the band's sound weaves classical influences together with heavier metal textures. Their debut full length Secrets came out on Metal Blade Records in 2010, followed by The Wanderer on Napalm Records in 2012, a record that drew comparisons to Within Temptation and featured guest spots from Epica's Mark Jansen among others. Their third album Argia, a Basque word meaning light, landed in 2014 to strong reviews, with some critics calling it an outright jewel. The band kept building from there, releasing Dirge for the Archons in 2016 and Euphonic Entropy in 2020, their fifth studio record. The lineup has shifted over the years but Aznárez and keyboardist Gorka Elso have been the constant creative core throughout.
