About
Disembodied Tyrant built their sound around a heavy symphonic approach to deathcore, drawing comparisons to Shadow of Intent and Mental Cruelty. Formed in Missouri in 2020, the band took a sharper shape when vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Blake Mullens came on board in late 2021. Their 2024 collaboration EP with symphonic deathcore act Synestia, The Poetic Edda, is a good example of their ambition: the closing track "Winter" is a reimagined version of the fourth concerto from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, filtered through their blackened, orchestral heaviness. That same year they followed up with The Tower: Part One, keeping the momentum going. More recently they dropped official music videos for "Aberrant Waltz" and "Malphasian", and in early 2025 they signed to Nuclear Blast, releasing the single "8.6 Blackout" to mark the occasion. The band is on a serious upward trajectory, with a growing catalog that ties symphonic grandeur to punishing deathcore aggression.
