About
Starting out at Amsterdam's legendary RoXY club in 1992, DJ Isis quickly built a reputation that stretched far beyond the Netherlands. Born Isis van der Wel, she was spinning internationally within years, playing venues and festivals across Europe, South America, Asia, the USA and Africa. Her mix albums landed in national top tens, she represented the Netherlands at World Expo '98 in Lisbon, and by 2002 she was ranked among the top ten female tech house DJs worldwide. The World Climate Summit in Copenhagen saw her play to a crowd of around 100,000 people. Beyond the decks, she founded artist management and events company Magma, launched All Is One Records, and served as Amsterdam's Nachtburgemeester, the city's Nightlife Ambassador, from 2010 to 2012. That role put her at the heart of Amsterdam's push for 24 hour venue permits. She was named Ambassador of Liberty for Dutch Liberation Day in 2009, and picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. Every five years she marks a DJ anniversary with a six hour solo set at Paradiso, celebrating her 30th year behind the decks there in spring 2022.
