About
DOMi & JD Beck came together after meeting at the 2018 NAMM Show, and the chemistry between French keyboardist Domi Louna and American drummer JD Beck was immediately obvious. Before they even put out their own record, they were co writing hits for Silk Sonic, backing Thundercat and Anderson.Paak on tour, and showing up at a virtual Adult Swim Festival alongside Ariana Grande. Their debut album Not Tight, released in 2022 on Anderson.Paak's Apeshit label in partnership with Blue Note Records, features a remarkable lineup including Herbie Hancock, Snoop Dogg, Thundercat, and Busta Rhymes, landing an 82 on Metacritic and earning Grammy nominations for both Best New Artist and Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. The duo plays jazz fusion with a looseness and irreverence that draws just as heavily from hip hop as from any conservatory training, which makes their live sets genuinely hard to look away from.
