Don Omar has spent two decades as one of reggaeton's most dominant forces, and the "King of Reggaeton" title his fans and critics gave him is hard to argue with. His 2003 debut The Last Don went gold in the US and helped introduce the genre to a global audience, but it was 2006's King of Kings that really cemented his status. That album debuted at number seven on the US charts, a record high for a reggaeton release, and Billboard later called it the most successful album of the decade in Latin America. It went on to sell over 4.1 million copies. His track record beyond that is just as striking. "Danza Kuduro" with Lucenzo, lifted further by its placement in Fast Five, became a worldwide hit, and "Virtual Diva" dominated Latin radio. He has also appeared in four Fast and Furious films as Rico Santos. After announcing his retirement in 2017, he came back in 2019 with the single "Ramayama" featuring Farruko, proving his exit was short lived.
