Doogie White is a Scottish rock vocalist from Motherwell who has fronted some of heavy metal's most storied acts. His big break came in 1994 when Candice Night stumbled upon a demo tape he had sent to Ritchie Blackmore's management and handed it to Blackmore, landing White the Rainbow gig. He once joked to the crowd at the Hammersmith Apollo that the last time he was there he had been selling hotdogs in the lobby. Since Rainbow wrapped up in 1997, White has kept a genuinely hectic pace. He has recorded and toured with Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force, cut albums with Michael Schenker under the Temple of Rock name, fronted NWOBHM outfit Tank, and sung for Praying Mantis, Alcatrazz and German act Empire. He also stepped in for Jon Lord's regular vocalist on two notable orchestral occasions. Throughout all of this, his original band La Paz has remained a constant, with several albums released across the years.
