About
DoomSword took their name inspiration and member pseudonyms directly from Warlord, the US heavy metal band they cite as their main influence. Formed in Varese, Italy in 1997, they built their sound around epic doom metal with thick, slow riffs and lyrics rooted in ancient history, medieval warfare, Norse mythology and fantasy literature. Their debut self titled album came out in 1999 on Underground Symphony, but lineup troubles nearly killed the band before they got going. Deathmaster stepped back up to the mic in 2001 and signed with Dragonheart Records, kicking off a run of four albums that showed real range: the purely epic Resound the Horn, the Viking focused Let Battle Commence, the Irish tinged My Name Will Live On, and the darker The Eternal Battle. Along the way they shared stages with Manilla Road and played festivals like Keep It True and Bang Your Head, earning their place in the underground heavy metal world.
