Dream Wife run on a mix of punk energy, pop hooks and indie rock grit, and since forming in Brighton before relocating to London, they have built a reputation as one of the most electrifying live bands around. The lineup is Rakel Mjöll on lead vocals, Alice Go on guitar, Bella Podpadec on bass, and drummer Alex Paveley. Rolling Stone put them on their list of the best things seen at Lollapalooza 2018, and Billboard called them "one of the most exhilarating live rock bands to emerge within the last few years." Their self titled debut got a perfect ten from NME, who summed it up as a band people had been waiting a long time for. Lyrically, Dream Wife go straight at feminism, body image, gender roles and sexual objectification, drawing on influences ranging from Le Tigre and Debbie Harry to David Bowie and Grimes. Their 2020 follow up So When You Gonna... was described as heartfelt and unapologetically outspoken, drawing comparisons with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. At live shows they have a standing policy of asking the crowd to part so women who want to mosh can move to the front.
