About
Baltimore's own Dru Hill built their reputation on lush R&B harmonies rooted in soul, hip hop soul and gospel, racking up seven Billboard Hot 100 top 40 hits along the way. Their debut album shifted over a million copies, and singles like "In My Bed", "Never Make a Promise" and "How Deep Is Your Love" cemented them as one of the defining groups of late 90s R&B. The band even helped launch Mýa's career, with member Sisqó co writing her first two singles and hopping on "It's All About Me" as a guest vocalist. Things got complicated when Sisqó's solo debut Unleash the Dragon took off massively, complete with the inescapable "Thong Song", pulling attention away from the group for a stretch. They reunited and kept going, releasing Dru World Order in 2002 and InDRUpendence Day later on, though neither matched their late 90s peak. Through lineup changes and label drama, the core identity of the group has always stayed rooted in that Baltimore sound they helped define.
