DRUM&BEEKER strip things back to two people and make a lot of noise with it. Daan van de Ven handles drums while Peter Beeker plays guitar and sings, and together they work in the raw, stripped down tradition of R.L. Burnside, The Black Keys and The Bonnevilles. They sing in Dutch, delivered with a thick Noord Limburg accent, which gives their sound a distinctly local character. The duo is from Venlo and records with a deliberate live feel, keeping the rough edges intact rather than polishing them away. Kapot Ver Weg is their third album, made in collaboration with musician and producer Jim Zwinselman from Salland. Its ten songs move from raw to rawer to rawest, which just about sums up their whole approach.
