About
Dual City Concert Band is a big band with deep roots in Enschede. From the very start it has been the house orchestra of the well known jazz venue De Tor, where it has played close to 200 concerts, often alongside seasoned guest soloists such as Jiggs Whigham, Tony Lacatos and Philip Catherine. The band has been going for more than three decades, with a full lineup of saxophones, trumpets and trombones backed by piano, bass and drums, plus a vocalist up front. It has also made a record: Salud, an album built around the compositions of Ewout Dercksen, who plays saxophone in the band himself. The trumpeter Jan Willem van te Kiefte has taken over as bandleader. Guest soloists keep rotating in, which gives each performance its own flavour.
