About

Also known as: Dubioza

Dubioza kolektiv pull from a wild mix of dub, reggae, ska, hip hop, punk, rock, and Balkan music, and somehow make it all hang together. The Sarajevo and Zenica group built their reputation on sharp, politically charged lyrics that take aim at corruption, capitalism, and the hollow promises of the American Dream, often switching between Bosnian and English mid song. Their 2011 track "USA", a satire on Bosnian emigration and the myth of America, became an unlikely football anthem during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, racking up tens of millions of YouTube plays and putting the band on a global stage they had been quietly building toward for years. By 2015 they were playing Glastonbury, and South by Southwest followed in 2016 for their US debut. Their album Happy Machine tackled everything from the Gezi Park protests to the European refugee crisis, with collaborators singing in Spanish, Punjabi, and Italian. Their 2017 record Pjesmice za djecu i odrasle went back to all Bosnian lyrics, and singles like "Himna generacije" and "Rijaliti" kept the socially conscious thread running through everything they do.
